Basis of measuring temperature flowmeter (thermal flowmeter)

Flow is measured in the temperature method in such a way that heat is transferred from the hot body when the gas flows. A temperature flowmeter for flow measurement has two PT100 temperature measurement sensors. One of the sensors is a reference temperature gauge. The other sensor heats up and has a constant temperature difference with the first sensor when there is no flow.

As soon as the fluid flows, the heated sensor starts to cool down. The faster the fluid moves, the faster it cools down. The electrical energy required to heat the second sensor is to keep the temperature difference constant in proportion to the mass flow.

Some advantages of temperature flowmeter
Rapid reaction to low fluid flow
 Slight pressure drop
No maintenance required, no moving parts
Ability to measure a wide range
